Choosing bed sheets can be difficult and confusing for many people because of the many choices available. You can start by limiting your options to cotton sheets because these are very soft and do not wrinkle easily. Anyway, cotton sheets have been used by many people for centuries now and these sheets have proven to be very comfortable and effective for sleeping.

There are many things that you must take into consideration when it comes to buying cotton sheets and one consideration is the size of the sheets. It will be very disappointing when you finally got new sheets for your bed only to eventually learn that the size you chose is too small. It is also possible that the sheets you get are too big and will cause you to lift the heavy mattress before the sheets can firmly fit. You will not encounter these problems if you measure the mattress first before you set off to buy cotton sheets.

Once you have settled the measurements of the cotton sheets that will fit on your bed, the next thing for you to do is determine the kind of feel you want from the sheets. Do you want very soft sheets that will only get softer as they age or you want to go for those that have a rather crisp feel? If your main priority is to get very soft sheets, cotton sheets made from pure cotton will be a great idea.

Cotton SheetsThere are various types of cotton and they are available in different thread counts. These factors will establish the quality of the sheets that you purchase. Generally, the sheets that come with higher thread count also provide the softer feel. Some choices you have in cotton are Egyptian cotton sheets and Pima cotton sheets. Sheets made from Egyptian cotton have 800 to 1,500 thread counts while those made from Pima cotton have lower thread counts which range from 250 to 600 counts.

If you like to have cotton sheets that have a crisp feel and are wrinkle-free, cotton blends may be your best choice. Many consumers prefer the polyester and cotton blended sheets among the many cotton blends. The blended sheets are cheaper than those made from pure cotton and are very practical items because they can sustain repeat washings.

When buying cotton sheets, be careful always because there are manufacturers who boldly advertise a lot of good features and qualities about their products which may not be entirely true. You might get overwhelmed with a disclosure in the package that the sheets were made from Egyptian cotton when the truth is that the sheets contain only very minimal percentage of fine Egyptian cotton. Do not be a victim of false pretenses and advertising.

You now have a few ideas that will guide you in buying cotton sheets that you like for your bed. Choose the ones that will meet your personal taste as well as your financial means.
